The main thing that you need in order to hire a car is a driving license. All companies have different policies, and some may require customers to be 25 years or older in order for the customer to be able to use the services that the car Hire company has to offer. Some companies may allow customers between the ages of 21 and 24 to rent a car, but there may be additional costs. Also, younger drivers may not be permitted to rent large vehicles.

Customers must have a driver’s license which is issued from their own country, followed by an International Driver’s Permit if the driving license in another language other than English. A driver’s license must be valid for the whole period of the Hire. In the United Kingdom, customers must hold a full driving license, and anyone living in the UK who is not a UK resident must present a valid passport.

Also, because car Hire companies like to trace customers who have stolen a rented car or in case later damage is found, the majority of them require customers to use a credit card, as this helps them to trace customers.

You may need insurance in order to rent a car, though some companies may try to sell insurance along with the Hire. If a customer refuses to purchase the insurance, then the car Hire company will still allow the customer to rent the car, as all car Hire companies are prohibited from refusing to rent a car if a customer does not purchase insurance.
